Job Description: The Human Health Policy Section works closely and provides the link between the Department and the Australian Department of Health (Health) to manage human health of biosecurity concern. The section operationalises Health’s policies ensuring that human health functions undertaken by Biosecurity Officers at Australia’s border align with the requirements of the Biosecurity Act 2015 and Health’s human health policies. The section is also responsible for developing operational policies, procedures and assurance for the department’s mosquito vector monitoring program and provides advice to other areas of the department on biosecurity pathway risks associated with exotic mosquitoes. Job Responsibilities: Managing Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and relevant schedules relating to human health with external parties Ensuring effective administration for Human Biosecurity Forum and Sub-Forum meetings with Health Driving human health policy and vector monitoring business improvements to meet the department’s strategic goals Providing leadership to ensure the delivery of human health and vector monitoring operations are supported with relevant decision support material and operational policies. Representing the department in negotiations and discussion with other government departments which include Health, Australian Border Force, and State and Territory health departments Working effectively with other sections across the division by providing policy and advice to support the operational delivery of human health policies at the border Job Requirements: Knowledge and understanding of the Biosecurity Act 2015.
