Job Description:

The City of Albany’s Civil Works Team is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and customer focused individual for a Civil Worker position. The role is available from level 3 to 6 dependent on your level of skills, experience and qualifications.Reporting to the Leading Hand – Civil Works, this role will see you responsible for safely and responsibly operating plant and equipment and undertaking manual tasks. The Civil Works Team perform a wide range of tasks including road installation and maintenance, drainage, concrete works, signage, road sweeping, fencing and general maintenance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Undertake manual tasks such as drainage, paving, sign maintenance, concrete works responsibly and safely under the direction of your co-ordinator or team leader.
• Operate plant and equipment responsibly and safely under the direction of your coordinator or team leader.
• To undertake duties on a rotational schedule that allows for the training of staff with the aim of building a multi-skilled work force.
• Required to make technical and operational decisions related to own work.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working in a civil construction team (desirable).
• “C” Class Drivers Licence
• “HR” Class Driver’s Licence (desirable)
• National Police Clearance
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and builds productive relationships with people at all levels within and outside the team.
• Basic oral, written and numeracy skills.
• Physical fitness capable of undertaking manual labour.
• Previous experience as a machine operator (desirable)
• Basic Traffic Management (desirable)
• Basic Resuscitation
