Job Description:

The incumbent serves as a Motion Picture Preservation Technician in the Motion Picture Preservation Lab of the Moving Image and Sound Preservation Labs Branch (RXM), National Archives and Records Administration. The Technician will perform duties associated with inspection of original elements and digitizing original archival motion picture holdings, managing said digital surrogates and derivatives, creating technical/administrative metadata, and producing physical media copies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Produce video and audio files
  • Digitize original archival motion picture records using computer hardware and software technology.
  • Inspect incoming and permanent motion picture holdings as well as additional inspection projects as requested by the archival unit, Presidential Libraries, and/ or Regional Archives.

Job Requirements:

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
  • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.

Qualification & Experience:

  • You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
