Armadale Council Careers – Vehicle Operator

Job Description:

Provide a quality waste collection service to all residents and customers in regards to waste
collection from residential, commercial, street and litter bins at various locations throughout the
City.
Transport and deposit of waste at the Armadale Landfill and Recycling Facility or any other
nominated waste disposal facility as deemed necessary by the Manager Waste Services.
Provide cover for Waste Disposal Officer when required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate waste collection vehicles efficiently and in accordance with approved work practices, procedures, services levels and quality standards.
• Attend team meetings and training when advised.
• Seek out ways of improving performance of the team in association with other team members.
• Assist in determining daily collection rounds to optimise collection operations.
• Liaise with and assist other team members to complete their daily tasks
• In association with other team members, solve routine problems associated with the collection operations.
• Assist Supervisor Waste Collection and Assistant Supervisor Waste Collection solve routine problems associated with waste disposal operations.

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of transport operations.
• Knowledge of waste transfer operations.
• Knowledge of landfill and waste transfer station operations;
• Knowledge of the Council’s Safety Policy and employee responsibilities regarding Occupation Safety and Health.
• Knowledge of health and environmental requirements and licence conditions relating to waste collections.

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience in safe operation and user maintenance of waste collection vehicles.
• Possession of Construction Induction Card.
• Senior First Aid Certificate.
• Possession of current “HR” class drivers licence
