Job Description:
Transport for Brisbane Transport for Brisbane operates one of Australia’s largest public transport enterprises to meet the needs of Brisbane’s public, as well as visitors to our city. We have a fleet of more than 1250 buses and we help facilitate around 238 000 journeys for residents and visitors to Brisbane every weekday. Job Responsibilities:
- Over-hauling (service, repair, tune, maintain and test etc) the mechanical parts of buses (engine, transmission and suspension systems etc)
- Diagnosing problems identified by bus operators and rectifying faults
- Detecting mechanical and electrical faults by using instruments that check the vehicles system of components including fuel systems, speed control, cylinder compression, engine condition, braking efficiency, wheel balance and alignment
- Repairing and maintaining the hydraulic/pneumatic components of the bus that operate systems such as steering and bus doors
- Using oxy, electric, TIG and MIG welding, hand fitting or machining processes to replace or repair faulty parts.
Job Requirements:
- Be passionate about vehicles, mechanics, and the motor industry
- Take pride and ownership of your work outcomes
- Be willing to adhere to Workplace Health & Safety practices
- Have completed and passed a minimum of Maths and English at Grade 10 level
- Have the capacity to work and study, with the ability to successfully complete required TAFE modules
- Participate in both practical training and completion of theory-based study components of the apprenticeship
- Have good communication skills including problem solving
- Enjoy working in a team environment
