Job Responsibilities:
- In consultation with the Coordinator Arts & Place, plan, implement and review the delivery of the City’s Art Awards and other arts and cultural initiatives as required.
- Identify and engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders including contractors where appropriate, to effectively achieve project deliverables, particularly in relation to the City’s Art Awards.
- Assist the Coordinator Arts & Place with the effective operation of ‘The Artist’s Place’ (the arts component of the retail space and the gallery space in the Belmont Hub).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive work instructions and other procedural documents including risk management plans, to ensure relevant information is recorded and appropriately retained, in particular for the operation of the Art Awards and the ‘Artist’s Place’.
- Assist the Coordinator Arts & Place in the implementation of the City’s Public Art Masterplan, including providing advice and support to private developers on the selection of appropriate public art design concepts.
- Attend as required, relevant internal and external meetings representing the City as appropriate and in particular the Public Art Advisory Panel (PAAP).
- Assist the Coordinator Arts & Place in the commissioning and maintenance of City owned public art and civic art collections.
- Monitor ongoing project activities, identifying any problems and taking corrective measures where appropriate and referring any specific issues to the relevant area of responsibility.
- Prepare reports as required to document project activities including updating on project progression and financial performance, measured against timelines and budget limitations.
- Liaise with relevant City staff when undertaking feasibility studies and cost analysis of project proposals, including identifying funding opportunities where appropriate in consultation with the Grants and Business Support Officer.
Job Requirements:
- Completion of a relevant qualification in the area of Arts Management, Visual Arts, or a recognised equivalent.
- Relevant experience working within an arts and/or cultural discipline and in particular, in the coordination and promotion of art exhibitions and awards.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management processes including delivery of projects from concept design through to completion.
- Previous exposure to the preparation of consultancy briefs and specifications and contracts of engagement.
- Well developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and groups to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interests of the organisation and ensure delivery of a high level of customer service.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions that achieve results and enhance organisational effectiveness.
- Good written communication skills, including the ability to conduct research and write clear and concise letters and reports, including policies and procedures.
- Well developed organisational and administrative skills with proven ability to effectively prioritise multiple projects and coordinate conflicting priorities to meet deadlines and achieve organisational objectives whilst achieving a high level of accuracy
