Job Description:

The BLM manages 245 million surface acres. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western States, including Alaska. We are a small bureau with a big and complex job, determining the best combination of uses for public lands based on good science and input from the public both in local communities and across the country. The BLM’s multiple-use mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews complex environmental analysis documents to ensure compliance and consistency with all applicable laws and regulations and serves as procedure and policy coordinator on all NEPA and planning documentation matters.
  • Provides responses to the public information request regarding completed, in-progress, and future planning document availability and assures that documents are appropriately filed and posts for availability for public review.
  • Serves on interdisciplinary teams (IDT) to work on specific planning and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents components and provides training to IDTs regarding development and implementation of NEPA and planning documents.
  • Assures that land use planning efforts are will coordinated with other local, State, and Federal agencies and ensures public participation in the planning process.

Job Requirements:

  • May require a one year probationary period.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Direct Deposit Required.

Qualification & Experience:

  • 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a directly related field of study.
