Job Description:

This position is located in the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action Office (IDEA), Office of the Chief of Police (COP), United States Capitol Police (USCP). The mission of the IDEA office is to develop and administer a comprehensive workplace diversity program designed to ensure equity and engagement within the Department and to achieve a workforce that is reflective of a diverse labor market at all levels.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates training and development opportunities.
  • Works with vendors to deliver diversity training to USCP employees.
  • Prepares routine reports for the Department’s Executive Committee detailing the full gamut of diversity and inclusion programs deployed by IDEA.
  • Reviews curriculums and makes adjustments as needed to tailor training to the needs of the department.
  • Determines and tracks the content and yearly calendar of programs delivered by the IDEA office.
  • Directs the diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) program for the USCP. Establishes goals and objectives for program initiatives and, either independently or in coordination with department staff, develops and implements DEI programs that reflects a variety of social and cultural differences; affords everyone the same opportunities; and includes the values, opinions and perspectives of all employees.
  • Identifies and recommends new or modified training, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborates with other offices to develop or assist in the development of curriculums and prepares and delivers presentations and workshops to employees.
  • Allocates program resources for long and short-term program goals, and overseas diversity outreach, awareness, and recognition activities and events in coordination with the Department’s Public Information Office.

Job Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a Background Investigation is required.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • Must complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have Direct Deposit.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Qualifying experience for this position includes one year of specialized experience at the CP-13/GS-15 (public or private sector equivalent) which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
