Job Description: This role sits in the Civil Construction team as part of the City Planning and Infrastructure division which plans, designs, builds and maintains the City for our growing community. This role is part of a team that oversees subdivisional developments that create over 40km of new road and drainage assets each year. You will be required to proactively investigate, resolve and provide advice and support to the Manager, Team Leader and Staff on Capital Works delivery issues within areas of responsibility. As a contract supervisor you will be responsible for the supervision of contractors, civil construction works and subdivisional developments to achieve the goals and objectives of relevant components of the Capital Works Program according to the adopted project time frames. Job Responsibilities: Administer, supervise and monitor contractor’s compliance with contractual specifications and OHS regulations for civil construction works and subdivisional developments. Provide advice on Council’s responses to civil construction issues to ensure an expedient, quality and appropriate response. Assist with the development and enforcement of appropriate standards for construction. Engage with stakeholders regarding the delivery and management of construction projects. Recommend and implement measures to continuously improve construction performance. Readily accept responsibility and look for development opportunity for self and others. Take responsibility for managing situations, problems and performance issues. Keep up to date with Engineering Standards, Practices, Codes, Regulations and Acts. Support and assist other staff in the department, in order to achieve individual, departmental and corporate objectives. Qualification & Experience: A current Victorian Drivers licence Ability to review and provide advice on Traffic Management Plans for works occurring within our municipality. Proven experience in managing road and drainage construction activities and direct supervision of construction staff and/or contractors. Experience in the supervision of subdivision developments.
