Job Description:

The Library Technical Assistant (LTA), under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Vocational Instruction, performs professional library work such as evaluation of materials, and information.  Performs professional tasks related to the selection, and the loan of institutional materials. The LTA may help with the delivery of service to special populations, including those in Administrative Segregation units, Protective Custody units, and the Correctional Treatment Center.  The LTA will be responsible for the operation of a branch law library.   The LTA will be fully aware of the mission, vision and services of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), the Office of Correctional Education (OCE), California Correctional Institution (CCI), and Tehachapi Mountain Adult School (TMAS) that are relevant to the position. The LTA will maintain personal safety by employing professionalism, wearing a Personal Alarm Device, performing regular security checks of their work area and or other department sanctioned means.

Job Responsibilities:

Qualification & Experience:

  • Two years of increasingly responsible subprofessional library experience, including work in book acquisition, cataloging, reference, and compilation of bibliographies.
