Job Description: The School Pupil Transportation Safety Coordinator will be under the supervision of the Administrative Sergeant. Job Responsibilities: Interview and fingerprint all original applicants for special certificates and determine applicant eligibility. Conducts written and driving examinations for Farm Labor Transportation drivers. Assemble and complete the special certificate application and submit to Special Certificate Section, DMV. Maintain Area Records on special Certificate applicants. Issues temporary special driver certificates to applicants who successfully complete the testing process. Make recommendations to DMV regarding special certificate actions. Inspects new and reviews yearly school bus stops pursuant to 22504(c) V.C. Disseminates current information concerning laws and regulations pertaining to school bus driving safety. Job Requirements: Ability to: Read, learn, analyze, interpret, and apply the provisions of the California Vehicle Code, Education Code and California Code of Regulations affecting school pupil and farm labor transportation safety, and the policies and procedural provisions of the California Highway Patrol; acquire knowledge of the laws, programs, and activities of the organizations concerned with vehicle registration, driver licensing, certification, driver training requirements, bus driver instructor training, Vehicle Code enforcement, and traffic safety in California. Qualification & Experience: Possession of a valid driver license of the appropriate class issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
