Job Description: Under the direction of a facility sergeant, the duties of the position include, but are not limited to, performing general grounds maintenance duties; lawn mowing, minor pruning, trimming, weeding, watering, maintaining ornamental plantings, keeping parking lot free of debris, sweep sidewalks, replace light bulbs, assisting in moving and arranging furniture, order supplies and equipment as necessary, and clean, stock and maintain storage rooms. Maintain records of vehicle mileage, coordinate or provide required maintenance of vehicles, keep interior and exterior of vehicles clean, and stock an adequate supply of necessary equipment for vehicles. Perform general janitorial duties during the absence of the custodian, including but not limited to, cleaning the facility restrooms, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying waste receptacles, replenishing lavatory supply dispensers, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility. Job Responsibilities: Checks motor vehicle maintenance schedule records and delivers motor vehicles to service stations and garages for necessary maintenance and repair Reviews repair invoices for completion of job order and correct total charges Keeps records of vehicle repair and maintenance Requisitions and maintains inventories of automotive supplies Makes automotive adjustments and repairs Cleans interior and washes motor vehicles Writes reports. Job Requirements: Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; maintain records and make accurate arithmetical computations; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the work; analyze situations accurately and take effective action. Qualification & Experience: One year of experience performing the duties of a Janitor in a California Highway Patrol area office or substation, including some experience in the maintenance and servicing of patrol vehicles.
