Job Description:

To carry out day-to-day maintenance of Parks infrastructure and assets as well as other works as

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operation of all plant and equipment associated with the position.
  • Responsible for quality and completion of work performed.
  • Recognise and correct quality deviations/faults/problems relating to parks infrastructure including but not limited to fencing, pathways retaining walls, signage, seats, bins, artworks, park furniture and playgrounds and correct faults/problems within the scope of the level of the position.
  • Monitor and repair any hazard and/or damage on parks or infrastructure and report where appropriate to Parks Supervisor(s).
  • Ensure correct use, clean and tidy presentation of vehicles and equipment at all times.
  • Maintain professional and courteous relationships with general public and staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to working both individually and as part of the Parks team within the Parks Department to achieve the strategic goals for the department.
  • Provide on the job training and guidance when required.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to frequently work unsupervised.
  • Ability to correctly interpret drawing/specifications.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage own time and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to set up and implement maintenance schedules for playground repairs and infrastructure maintenance.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in maintenance of parks and gardens infrastructure and assets.
  • Extensive experience in the safe and effective use of parks maintenance equipment including small plant and electric / manual hand tools.
  • Extensive experience in general “handyman” work.
  • Building Trade qualification (essential).
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).
  • Chainsaw competency certificate (desirable).
  • MRWA competency certificate (desirable).
  • Experience in working to maintenance schedules.
