Job Description:

This is an exciting career opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of an integrated strategic planning framework for the urban growth area of Cardinia Shire. You will have the opportunity to lead strategic planning projects including the preparation of Precinct Structure Plans, urban design frameworks and infrastructure contribution plans, across the Shire’s developing growth corridor.

Job Responsibilities:

• Undertake research on strategic issues and provide advice to Council and senior management about their implications for Cardinia.
• Consult with internal and external stakeholders in relation to strategic planning projects, planning scheme amendments, and development applications.
• Assist with the development of precinct structure plans, strategies and policies within the Shire’s growth area including the Pakenham South Employment PSP and ICP.
• Coordinate and project manage multi-disciplinary consultant teams, including ensuring quality of outputs and their integration with other components of projects.
• Negotiate outcomes with government agencies, infrastructure service providers and developers.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to prepare strategies, policies, guidelines, plans and other projects.
• A tertiary qualification in planning or a related discipline with a relevant major (such as geography) and experience in strategic planning.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of growth area or structure planning processes including relevant planning related legislation.
• Ability to research and analyse information and prepare concise reports and and recommendations.
• Knowledge and understanding of social, economic, environmental and political context of planning issues.
