Job Description:

This role sits in the Inclusion and Wellbeing team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences and life cycle services from birth to older age.
The Team Leader Equity and Inclusion will be responsible for developing a whole of council social equity framework, including the resources, processes, capacity building initiatives and other collateral needed to embed change across the organisation to achieve social equity and inclusion internally and externally.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build capacity across the organisation to apply equitable decision making and practice within their sphere of influence to broaden impact.
  • In partnership with community and other key stakeholders, develop strategies, resources and projects that address systemic social disadvantage, exclusion and inequity within the City of Casey.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of strategies, research and community development projects in line with community need, organisational priorities, resource, budget and timeline parameters.
  • Provide leadership, empathic coaching and capacity building to direct reports, students, volunteers, to create a high performing team culture focused on delivering meaningful community outcomes.
  • Undertake regular community and stakeholder engagement to co-design and develop solutions, and ensure that priorities and projects meet the needs and aspirations of the communit

Qualification & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in successfully facilitating, developing, and delivering policies, strategies and projects that increase social equity and inclusion.
  • A sound understanding of, or experience delivering successful outcomes to enhance housing and financial security, multicultural and LGBTIQA+ inclusion, and/or mental health and wellbeing.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills to achieve outcomes by engaging with, developing, and working in collaboration with the community, government, and nongovernment agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply social justice principles, social equity, cultural safety, and community development strategies.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in leading staff to achieve outcomes
  • A tertiary qualification in social, community or health sciences, community development, social policy and/or substantial relevant experience in a similar field.
