City of Casey Jobs – Gathering Place Operations Lead

Job Description:

This role sits in the Aboriginal Engagement team as part of the Community Life division which strives to develop healthy, active, connected and safe communities through the delivery of community facilities, events, experiences and life cycle services from birth to older age.
The Gathering Place Operations Lead will manage the day to day operations of the Casey Aboriginal Gathering place located in Doveton.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver culturally safe, innovative and responsive services and programs to the local Aboriginal community to meet the requirements of relevant policies, procedures, service standards, budget and targets.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage the day to day operations of the Gathering Place, including the drop in service and volunteer program, to ensure effective management and delivery of culturally safe and responsive services to the local Aboriginal community.
• Establish networks, and develop partnerships, with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance sustainable, culturally safe and responsive service provision through the establishment of new and coordinated approaches.
• Ensure staff performance planning and review is undertaken in a regular and timely way, as per organisational policy.
• Lead, motivate and develop staff with the Aboriginal Engagement Unit and provide leadership across Council to ensure that Council is culturally safe and responsive for the Aboriginal community.

Job Requirements:

Qualification & Experience:

• Sound understanding of the role and operation of local government in the strengthening social cohesion in the context of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, community wellbeing and diversity inclusion
• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, train and motivate staff with an emphasis on performance, continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration.
• Experience identifying and working with diverse stakeholders in local contexts to achieve organisational goals.
• Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal communities and engaging community members from a variety of backgrounds in diverse social settings.
• Substantial experience in staff management and leadership, budgeting and program coordination and facilities management.
