Job Description:

This role sits in the Placemaking and Revitalisation team as part of the City Planning and Infrastructure division which plans, designs, builds and maintains the City for our growing community.
This position will prepare and deliver innovative place-based strategies that enhance and activate key activity centres and foster investment.
In this role, you will prepare and deliver structure plans, planning scheme amendments, policies and strategies and, through advocacy, collaboration and negotiation, secure positive outcomes in relation to planning, placemaking and economic development for the City of Casey residents and businesses

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the review and preparation of strategic planning policy for Casey’s largest Activity Centres and manage complex planning projects within agreed parameters relating to scope, output, timeline and budget.
  • Identify, coordinate and deliver complex placemaking initiatives and major urban regeneration projects in designated placemaking areas.
  • Work across the organisation to coordinate planning, capital works and investment in designated placemaking areas and strategic sites.
  • Coordinate with other Council staff, prepare briefs, manage external consultants/contractors and liaise with government agencies, community organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiate excellent outcomes for the City of Casey with developers and their proponents, government agencies and the local community

Job Requirements:

  • Current Victorian Driver Licence
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including: National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check, Functional Assessment (physio/medical)
  • Covid-19 Vaccination in line with State Government directives

Qualification & Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications in Town Planning, Urban Studies or Urban Geography or related field.
  • Proven experience in project management, strategy development, policy formulation, planning scheme amendments, master plans, funding submissions and capital works projects.
  • Proven experience as a Strategic Land Use Planner. Some local government experience as a Senior Strategic Planner would be considered an advantage
  • Proven experience in managing productive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in facilitating community and other stakeholder engagement and consultation processes.
