Job Description:

The Fresno County Department of Internal Services is offering an excellent career opportunity for skilled, self-reliant individuals interested in a rewarding career as an Air Conditioning Mechanic.

Job Responsibilities:

• Inspects and tests refrigeration/heating systems for leaks, defective parts and components, and other malfunctions.
• Adjusts valves, gauges, thermostats, and other controls to ensure optimum efficiency.
• Performs braze welding and soldering.
• Maintains and repairs valves, pumps, regulators, and control systems.
• Adjusts and repairs pneumatic/electric controls.
• Adjusts refrigerant levels as needed.
• Monitors and adjusts electronic computer based Energy Management Systems.
• Lubricates compressors, motors, and other moving parts.

Job Requirements:

Ability to:

• Operate HVAC-R and Energy Management Systems;
• Install, operate, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and related equipment;
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
• Identify cause of operating errors and determine appropriate course of action;
• Practice appropriate safety precautions and procedures;
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels, as well as with other agencies and the public;
• Adapt equipment and technology to County facilities;
• Read and interpret blueprints and related construction documents;

Qualification & Experience:

• Possession of a Universal Certificate from an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved program.
• Possession of a certificate of completion from an accredited college, apprenticeship, or trade school in the repair of refrigeration, air conditioning systems, and related equipment, and two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience maintaining and repairing commercial and/or industrial refrigeration, heating, and related  equipment.
