Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team to ensure the development of plans, policies, standards, procedures and strategic documents that will guide the delivery of high-quality contemporary sport and recreation outcomes for the community, in conjunction with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Create and maintain a culture within the team that is consistent with the organisations values, that ensures staff to feel valued, productive, engaged and supported
  • Work collaboratively across divisions and with relevant stakeholders in planning for sport and recreation
  • Ensure the department is represented and contributing (as required) to the development and review of precinct structure plans and other strategic land use planning
  • Ensure the organisation is represented in broader social planning processes and consultations, with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure systems and processes are in place that provide data and insights on any provision or service gaps to inform future sport and recreation development priorities
  • Monitor and advise on the implications arising from government policy and funding opportunities relating to sport and recreation planning

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with a range of community stakeholders, including developers, councillors and other key external stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively manage complex projects from consultation, concept development, and design phases through to full implementation

Qualification & Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience and an excellent reputation in the leadership and management of people within a comparable organisation
  • Experience in developing policies and strategies to support the effective planning and delivery of sport and recreation
