Job Description:

The City of Port Phillip has made a strong commitment to children and families through the Children’s Services Policy. This role will form part of a suite of services designed to maximise positive health, educational and wellbeing outcomes for children.

By proactively building close relationships with families experiencing vulnerability, childcare centres and community service organisations, the Early Years Assertive Outreach program will empower families to access the right early years education for their children.

We are looking for someone with a strengths-based and trauma-informed practice framework, who thrives in a collaborative team environment. This program requires an innovative approach to quality service development and commitment to continuous improvement

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all children can access and maintain long term engagement with quality Early Education and Care Services (EECS).
  • Support families to navigate EECS referral pathways and funding opportunities
  • Understand the barriers and enablers experienced by families in accessing EECS
  • Communicate and advocate for the evolving needs of children and families experiencing vulnerability accessing EECS, in line with Council’s Children’s Services Policy.
  • Conduct research and collect data to contribute to the evaluation of the program

Job Requirements:

  • Must hold a degree in Social Work or other qualification suitable for practice in the Child and Families sector
  • Significant experience/knowledge of the Early Childhood Education and Care sector is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience utilising best practice models in relation to children and families in the context of vulnerability and trauma
  • Able to establish and maintain co-operative working relationships with a variety of agencies and working collaboratively with professionals and external agencies
  • This role requires a current Working with Children Check, Police Check and Victorian Drivers Licenc
