Job Description:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for picking up, sorting, and distributing U.S. Mail, interoffice mail, post-meter mail, and bulk mail bundles. This position is also responsible for maintaining inventory for general office supplies and providing maintenance for general office machinery.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receives miscellaneous packages and materials in the warehouse; distributes and delivers as required
  • Coordinates outgoing mail service deliveries with a variety of carriers and ensures outgoing mail complies with postal regulations
  • Maintains records of materials and supplies used
  • Performs City mail processing duties, including picking up City mail from the post office and City locations and sorting and transporting mail between City facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Delivers and distributes office supplies to City staff

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, and City policies relating to mail services
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with mail services team
  • Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and projects to consistently meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate office and mailroom equipment

Qualification & Experience:

  • Must be forklift certified within 90 days of employment (City to provide training)
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class C driver license is required
