City of Swan Job Vacancies – Community Engagement Officer

Job Description:

The City of Swan aims to build resilient and inclusive communities through the development of strong mutually-beneficial community relationships. As a Community Engagement Officer, it will be your role to oversee and implement positive engagement strategies for key stakeholders within a prescribed geographical area, while also supporting the broader organisation acting as an internal consultant. The Community Engagement Team’s aim is to support the City to become better connected and more engaged with its communities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee the implementation of community engagement processes including stakeholder management support
• Support the Coordinator Community Engagement in developing and delivering a corporate approach to community engagement and stakeholder management
• Identify emerging stakeholder and community trends or issues at a local level, relevant to the City of Swan and recommend responses and actions
• Provide corporate support and advice to relevant areas of the organisation in managing engagement during critical events, community outrage issues and emergencies as and when delegated
• Build Community Engagement and Stakeholder Management capacity within the organisation; and
• Liaise with Councillors when delegated by Executive, on Place-based issues to promote stakeholder management and community engagement

Job Requirements:

• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and negotiate positive community outcomes;
• Inherent attributes of diplomacy, tact, empathy, sincerity, and resilience
• Tertiary qualification in community engagement, consultation and or relevant management discipline
• Knowledge of social, cultural and economic issues impacting community
• Knowledge of and experience with stakeholder management principles and the ability to translate these principles into practice
• Must be able to work in line with the COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate and Working with Children Check is required
• An open C-class Driver’s Licence.
