Job Description:

The role of the City Projects and Property Division is to define and deliver the Capital WorksProgram and manage the property portfolio. The Capital Works program includescommunity buildings, open spaces, streetscapes, roads and footpaths and other publicdomain features. The primary purpose of this position is to effectively manage projects throughout all project phases to facilitate the successful development and delivery of the projects managed by the City Projects and Property Division.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The position will be required to manage capital works and/or property projects and
    include management of both internal & external staff, consultants and contractors.
  • The position will work across all project phases Including initiation, design, documentation, tender and procurement, construction commissioning and finalization.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within time, cost, safety, environmental and quality
    expectations including agreed programs and budgets.
  • Manage the day to day implementation of projects including:
  • Assess risks and prepare appropriate mitigation plans in collaboration with relevant
    parties for approval, including risk management plan, WHS and Environmental Management Plans;
    Identify and prepare Project Plans, manage relationships, decision making, expectations and delivery of outcomes;
  • Review design against pre-determined limits of time, cost and quality, and identify
    areas for change and implement recommendations to maximise project outcomes;
  • Manage preparation and coordination of tender documentation and process to achieve accurate and competitive pricing in accordance with the City’s Procurement Policy and the Local Government Act;

Qualification & Experience:

  • Sound knowledge and proven experience in Project Management including the planning and delivery of capital works projects in the public and/or private sectors;
  •  Sound communication ability and experience in achieving good relationships with clients, stakeholders, consultants and contractors
  • Sound knowledge and proven experience to manage project risks, finances, and undertake contract administration
  •  Appropriate tertiary professional qualifications, at degree level, in a relevant field, such as Project Management, Civil/ Structural/Services Engineering, or equivalent relevant industry experience including Contract Administration (with
    demonstrated Project Management capabilities);
