Job Description:
Working closely with project teams on a variety of projects taking information from initial customer proposals/specifications and turning them into completed design documentation. Implementing configuration changes across the different types of network devices deployed across the HMRC estate based on approved design documentation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Strategic thinker that can communicate network concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholder
- Implementation activities based on approved and scheduled changes.
- Design & discovery work.
- A subject matter expert for network architects and represent network architects internally and externally
- Liaise and work with project contacts directly if required.
- Share and pass on knowledge/experience of relevant networking products/services/technologies through mentoring, coaching and presentations.
- To have a high level of knowledge across some or multiple aspects network technology including: LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, load-balancers, data centre, F5, ACI, SD networks and automation, Cloud (Azure, O365 & AWS), telephony, mobile solutions infrastructure, network management solutions, and network specific security and remote access technologies and approaches
- Actively help with development of other team members where possible.
- Point of escalation input into governance forums that determine IT strategy
- Deliver to challenging timescales.
- Ensure allocated Network Requests (NRF) are kept up to date.
- Attend project review/technical meetings and represent the Design engineering part of the organisation.
- Cascade messages, standards and best practice from other architecture teams and design authorities to the network architecture team
- Lead in operational project handover
- Champion new technologies and solutions
- Support Live network issues in collaboration with Operational engineers including High Priority Incidents (HPI).

- Able to create both high- and low-level technical documentation.
- Focused on delivering the highest quality output.
- Technical leadership including coaching and developing junior engineers.
- Ability to lead on complex network projects
- Deliver under significant pressure and to meet challenging deadlines.
- Able to work to the finest level of detail.
- Absorb levels of detailed technical information and turn that into a clear network design proposal, which you will be able to successfully implement.
- Understanding of large-scale project requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating professionalism when working within a team environment.
- Expert knowledge of product/device
- Good understanding of network automation and tools.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify the best solution.
- Demonstrate solid analytical problem-solving experience.
- Ability to build relationships and work with third-party suppliers.
- Adapt to a changing workload profile and demonstrate full flexibility of your approach.
