Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in the City’s workforce and initiate and run projects to realise these opportunities
  • Support recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees by advising on attraction, recruitment and retention strategies and by providing practical support to candidates through the recruitment process
  • Develop a strong network with local community, government and non-government bodies support City’s employment goals
  • Support the development and implementation of the City’s Reconciliation Action Plans
  • Design and implement interventions (including training and events) to develop organisational awareness and capability so that the City is a culturally safe and inclusive place to work

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working in an advocacy role supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples/ communities and/or working on Reconciliation Action Plans
  • Ability to build strong relationships, build networks and well-developed capability to communicate with influence
  • Ability to manage projects, organise and prioritise to achieve targets
  • Proactive and inquisitive approach, and ability to think outside the box
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications or other qualification
