Job Description:

The Community Services Branch is responsible for managing, delivering, improving and implementing change in a range of community services to ensure quality outcomes for the city. The area is responsible for planning for and providing children’s services, including child care, parenting services and family support activities, immunisation, maternal and child health services, youth services, and services to older people. The branch works to ensure accessibility to all community members. It is also responsible for managing the contract for the Medical Officer of Health.
The Program Support Worker position will work at the Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre in Carlton. Their main duties will be to assist with the planning and implementation of enjoyable and meaningful activities for older people attending the Social Support Group.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of safe O.H.&S practices
  • Working with Children check clearance
  • Knowledge and understanding of O.H.&S practices
  • Police check clearance
  • An understanding of dementia and an ability to work with people people living with dementia
  • Ability to use initiative appropriately and work independently or as instructed
  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements in client care
    Current driver’s licence

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience in working with older adults
  • Certificate III HACC (Aged Care) including ‘Apply first aid’ module
