Job Description: The Waste and Resource Management branch provide service to both Council and community in waste management.The Environmental Project Officer implements environmental obligations and sustainability opportunities at operational and closed waste facilities. Job Responsibilities: Take a lead role in obtaining, amending and surrendering new and existing environmental approvals and conditions for the branches existing and new facilities, operations and projects. Deliver landfill remediation projects and programs ensuring outcomes support Council’s broader waste and resource management objectives. Assists with the implementation, administration and delivery of the closed landfill remediation program. Project manage the delivery of closed landfill remediation work packages. Manage and deliver the closed landfill environmental monitoring program. Manage and deliver the Works on Closed Landfill Policy and Procedure. Ensures site and facility operations are compliant with relevant environmental legislation and policy. Auditing, analysing and reporting environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies including preparation of reports for Council and external regulatory bodies. Job Requirements: Possess comprehensive knowledge of environmental legislation and policy likely to impact on waste management. Have excellent communication, conflict resolution, interpersonal, negotiation and networking skills. Have demonstrated project and contract management experience. Have a minimum five years experience in relevant Government or private sectors.
