Job Description:
You will be working as part of the Climate Emergency and Environment Programs team, where you will be responsible for developing and delivering Council’s community facing programs and partnerships that address the climate emergency. You will have the chance to make a direct impact by implementing projects and initiatives within Council’s climate related strategies, along with other climate initiatives in line with Council’s goals. You will have the chance to identify partnership opportunities for innovative projects, support strategies, collaborate across Council and with external organisations and community groups, and develop and deliver engaging programs, communications and education campaigns for and with the Darebin community.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with community groups to support community-led initiatives
- Partner with external organisations to deliver shared outcomes for the environment
- Help shape the future of Darebin through identifying new initiatives and trialling projects
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated understanding of current climate change issues, policies and actions, and how they relate to Council and the Darebin community Experience in designing community facing programs and engagement campaigns
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide variety of people of different backgrounds, experiences and knowledge
- A tertiary qualification in environmental management/science, sustainability, community engagement, communications, teaching, waste management or a related field, and/or demonstrated equivalent competencies gained through substantial experience in these or related fields
