Job Description: The Environment Approvals Division (EAD) ensures the protection of matters of national environmental significance through its regulatory responsibilities under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The Division performs a variety of EPBC Act policy, support and assessment work for the Department of the Agriculture, Water and the Environment. Job Responsibilities: Undertaking analysis and research to prepare accurate briefing material to inform supervisors and decision-makers on environmental approvals policy and processes Working independently within set parameters and taking responsibility for achieving results Assisting junior staff in the performance of their duties Building relationships across the division, and with other internal and external stakeholders, though written and face-to-face activities Developing a sound understanding of the context and operation of relevant Commonwealth and State legislation and policy frameworks Undertaking miscellaneous activities, including data entry and analysis, preparing correspondence and ad-hoc briefing material, and performing administrative tasks. Job Requirements: Strong written and oral communication skills including an ability to synthesise and tailor diverse messages and information in plain English Experience in stakeholder engagement, project management, policy development and/or implementation (including in a regulatory environment), procurement and financial governance, contract management and administration Knowledge/experience in environmental science or related professions.
