Job Description:

The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for writing technical documents and formal risk assessments detailing cybersecurity, privacy, system architecture, compliance, and other technical topics. Requires an understanding of technical details and the ability to write documents required for internal and external auditors, regulatory bodies, and component development teams. Requires attention to detail and conformity with defined formal processes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with program management staff on the steps needed for security reviews and the development of formal reports.
• Work with the lead technical writer with creating formal risk assessment reports following a defined formal risk assessment process.
• Write documents detailing the technical implementation of security and privacy requirements for internal and external development teams; internal and external auditors; and regulatory bodies or customers requiring disclosure of our practices.
• Meet with stakeholders, including development teams, to understand their documentation needs from our team and ensure the documentation is of an appropriate level of thoroughness.
• Develop technical data-flow diagrams in conjunction with peer technical writers and engineering leads to achieve a shared understanding of proposed architectural designs.
• Write non-technical overview descriptions of components and services that provide stakeholders with a summary of system architecture and other program decisions.
• Ensure all deliverables maintain a simple, succinct content flow with correct grammar and spelling.

Job Requirements:

• Demonstrates excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality, consistency, and accuracy
• Constantly improves written and verbal communication skills to connect with stakeholders and subject matter experts
• Employs efficient research practices to quickly understand and accurately document complex software systems and interfaces
• Experience includes technical writing in the healthcare or medical device industry
• Exhibits excellent time management skills to effectively organize and prioritize tasks among multiple projects
• Familiar with both Agile and Waterfall product development methodologies
• Solid proficiency in MS Word (including Style and Template development), Excel, and Visio
• Results-oriented, self-disciplined, fast-paced, motivated individual that requires minimal supervision
• Enjoys researching and learning with an interest in cybersecurity, technology, privacy, requirements gathering, and risk analysis
• Technical background in documentation of system designs, preferably security and/or privacy related
• Preferred experience in Jira, Confluence, SnagIt, and Agile PLM (or similar document control system)
• Collaborates with various subject matter experts from Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Verification & Validation, Doc Control, and Program Management
• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or Master’s degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience.
• Familiar with cloud computing services (e.g., Google Cloud Platform)
