Job Description:
This position offers an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal person to join the Community Development team at Council. We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual to assist the Coordinator to support Council’s Aboriginal Advisory Committee and its activities. This includes the presentation and development of activities that support NAIDOC Week, Reconciliation Week (and others) and actions identified in Council’s Aboriginal Action Plan.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated community consultation skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and the general community.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting community advisory committees, events and activities.
- Well-developed organisational skills, including a demonstrated ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to follow EEO and diversity principles and practices.
- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement of this position.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the expectation that the community or other stakeholders may have of your work role.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly gain knowledge of, Council’s WHS Policy and procedures.
Qualification & Experience:
- Qualifications and or extensive experience in Community Development, Education, Events Planning or related discipline.
- Substantial knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience in preparing reports, media releases, project documentation and general correspondence.
- Demonstrated experience and results in community development work, including Aboriginal and general community programs.
