FBI Careers – Police Officer

Job Description:

FBI Police Officers play a key role in keeping the Bureau’s employees and facilities safe, serving as first responders to any emergency that may arise. Our dedicated team oversees public safety, maintains order and promotes good community relations. Not only do they identify, pursue and arrest suspects and perpetrators of criminal acts, they provide service to those in their duty stations and, if necessary, travel to aid in times of crisis.

Job Responsibilities:

• Check for proper identification of pedestrian and vehicular traffic prior to admittance to secure space at stationary posts.
• Screen vehicles for the detection of explosive devices.
• Maintain order, respond to emergencies, protect people and property and enforce motor vehicle and criminal laws.
• Monitor, report and investigate suspicious persons and situations, safety hazards and unusual or illegal activity in patrol area.
• Investigate traffic and other accidents to determine whether a crime has been committed.
• Document incidents and activities.

Job Requirements:

• Must be in compliance with the FBI Employment Drug Policy.
• Must never have been convicted of a felony.
• Must have two years of full-time professional work experience (see work experience waiver for exceptions).
• Meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.

Qualification & Experience:

• Police Officer candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S.-accredited college or university in Police Science, Law Enforcement or a comparable degree program related to the work of the position such as Criminal Justice, National/Homeland Security, Psychology, Political Science, Law degree and Sociology.
