Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project management of consultants to deliver the required documentation for a Part 10 Strategic Assessment for NWGGA in accordance with the Environment and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 and State and Federal Government requirements.
  • Assist with the development of a Biodiversity Conservation Strategy for NWGGA.
  • Provide expert advice in relation to the principles of conservation planning, threatened species management, and the native vegetation regulations in accordance with relevant local, State and Federal policies and legislation.
  • Assist in the development of Native Vegetation Precinct Plans, Precinct Structure Plans, strategic plans, and biodiversity conservation advice relating to NWGGA.
  • Assist with environmental implementation, monitoring and assessment requirements associated with the implementation phase of NWGGA.
  • Organise and conduct stakeholder consultation meetings in relation to project deliverables

Job Requirements:

  • Contemporary knowledge of the Victorian Planning Provisions and planning schemes in relation to the Victorian Native vegetation removal regulations, the federal Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, and State and Federal Government environmental and biodiversity legislation.
  • High level facilitation skills, including the ability to manage multi-stakeholder engagement and consultation.
  • High level ability to negotiate with clients, internal employees, external organisations, ratepayers and stakeholders in the pursuit and achievement of specific and set objectives.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience in identifying, analysing and resolving environmental planning problems and opportunities.
  • Tertiary qualification in either environmental planning, natural resource management and/or land use planning and sustainability with several years’ practical experience
