Within City Services, as the Manager Engineering Services you will be leading a large, diverse team to provide the most important services to the Greater Geelong community and creating clever solutions to challenging projects that make a difference to peoples’ wellbeing. You will provide leadership and manage the development of the City's infrastructure asset management systems as well as the formulation and implementation of asset maintenance and civil infrastructure capital works programs. You will effectively manage Engineering Services and deliver best practice and customer focused services in an environment that encourages positive outcomes. Job Responsibilities: Lead and guide the Engineering Services team (circa 100 employees) driving positive cultural change and community focus Provide motivation, management, leadership, as well as personal and career development of an expanding and diverse team of engineering professionals Develop and foster a positive and collaborative working culture. Effective development and management of infrastructure — related asset information systems to provide consistent and relevant data for decision making. Strategic planning and development of asset acquisition, disposal and management programs relating to roads and traffic, drainage and flooding functions. Effective management of the City's infrastructure through planning, appropriate maintenance, and renewal programs in consultation with service program management and user groups. Management and implementation of civil infrastructure capital works, maintenance and renewal programs including the associated project management and contract management. Identify and embed best practices in the provision of engineering service Job Requirements: Highly developed customer relations and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and influencing and, extensive experience with working with a range of people to deliver high quality outcomes Extensive experience in contract management and project management Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in a complex, highly scrutinised environment Ability to work in a team environment and positively contribute to the ‘can do’ attitude of the organisation Proven track record in managing time, setting priorities and delegating tasks.
