Job Description: The position of Leading Hand Construction will be required to assist in the supervision of a work team, understanding construction works as required by City's works program. An important aspect of the role is to ensure all work is performed to meet the safety, environmental and legislative requirements, and responsibilities of the City's WH&S guidelines and procedures. Job Responsibilities: Implementing and monitoring safety procedures for projects including daily pre-starts, site inductions, development of risk assessments, implementation of Safe Operating Procedures and reviewing contractor Safe Work Method Statements. Controlling and monitoring costs associated with projects including tracking project costs and forecasting costs at project completion, provide relevant information/updates to the Construction Supervisor/Construction Coordinator, as required. Setting out various works projects, interpreting plans and calculating quantities of materials required. Developing and coordinating work schedules and time frames in conjunction with the Construction Supervisor and implementing works to agreed timeframes. Supervising and leading work teams, as directed by the Construction Supervisor, in the safe and efficient construction of the City's infrastructure. Job Requirements: You have demonstrated commitment to safety from both a leadership and personal perspective You have highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. You are a natural leader who champions change and develops people to achieve their personal and organisational goals. You manage, motivate and assess performance of team members, ensuring effective and efficient management and development. You hold a Certificate III in Construction (Civil) and demonstrated experience and knowledge relevant to the role. You are a “can do” person who thrives on innovatively solving problems in a complex environment.
