Job Description:

We are currently recruiting two Team Leaders who are required to provide specialist technical advice and services in relation to temporary road closures within the City of Gold Coast, in particular for major events and construction activities for large developments, whilst ensuring an efficient, safe and sustainable transport system.
The incumbent will lead a team of technical and support officers responsible for the assessment and approval of temporary road closure applications, provision of temporary traffic management expertise and decision making under delegation.
Reporting directly to the Coordinator Temporary Road Closures, this position liaises with a wide range of Council personnel, government departments, external organisations and services, developers, event organisers as well as Gold Coast residents

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and coordination of team members to ensure temporary road closure applications are processed and assessed in accordance with expectations and within nominated timeframes.
  • Developing and implementing improvements to work practices to assist the team to achieve corporate and directorate operational goals and objectives.
  • Identifying and developing safe achievable solutions to temporary road closure issues, including road safety, parking, pedestrian, cyclist and public transport issues.
  • Responsible for decision making under delegation and provision of specialist expert advice, and guidance to internal and external clients on varied and complex matters relating to temporary traffic management, temporary road closures planning for special events, major development sites and internal works

Job Requirements:

  • A proactive and passionate leader who has a proven track record of coaching and mentoring a team of technical and support officers
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills ensuring consistency and clarity of advice
  • Highly developed analytical, problem solving and investigative skills with the ability to provide sound advice, options and recommendations to influence positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to form good working relationships with key stakeholders and service providers both internal and external
  • A preparedness and commitment to undertake continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Possess or willingness to obtain Traffic Management Design qualification
  • Drivers licence class C unrestricted
