Job Description:

The Assessment Officer position in Water and Waste is a key part of the Development Services Team which manages the assessment of development applications. The Assessment Officer is primarily responsible for assessing development applications and preparing internal referral memos in accordance with the Planning Act 2016, and assessing Connection Applications in accordance with the South-East Queensland Water (Distribution and Retail Restructuring) Act 2009 . Development Services is an internal referral team involved in the assessment of development applications and provides advice on water supply, sewerage and solid waste management. The team also supervises the construction of developer contributed water supply and sewerage assets including trunk infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Attend site inspections including prestart and on maintenances
  • Assess reconfiguring of a lot, material change use and operational works applications
  • Assess build over or near sewer referrals
  • Assess connection applications
  • Resolve construction issues and work with Construction Inspectors to ensure all site inspections are undertaken
  • Review plan sealing applications and make recommendations to Senior Assessment Engineer and Coordinator
  • Assess as constructed plans and other QA documentation

Job Requirements:

  • Competency in written and verbal communication
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil or Mechanical) or equivalent knowledge
  • Valid Australian Driver Licence
  • White Card
