HSBC Hiring – Venture Capital Associate Relationship Manager

Job Description:

The Global Venture Capital Coverage Group (“GVCCG”), part of HSBC Corporate Banking in the US, is seeking a strong candidate to fulfil the role of Venture Capital Associate Relationship Manager, based on San Francisco. GVCCG works extensively and in a myriad of ways with VCs and VC-backed companies. Our differentiator is a global footprint in 70+ countries, a very high level of IT spend as well as a holistic banking platform including investment and corporate banking solutions and financing for start-ups (Venture Debt). We are looking for someone who is passionate about the intersection of finance, technology, and startups, and who has a desire to work in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Job Responsibilities:

The Associate Relationship Manager will support GVCCG leadership and the team in the broader efforts to develop business with venture capital firms and their portfolio companies. Primary responsibilities will include supporting the 1) maintenance and development of relationships with target venture capital firms and the broader VC community, 2) development of revenue generating relationships with venture capital backed companies, 3) working on assigned special projects that support GVCCG and its goals, 4) participation in industry events, conferences, etc. and 5) providing general support and leadership for team projects.

Job Requirements:

• Familiarity and passion for working with the VC community and tech startup business environment.
• Solid team player, as you will need to work across HSBC with different teams (tech banking, tech i-banking, Venture Debt, innovation, IT, etc.).
• 4 or more years of experience in supporting commercial relationships.
• Keen interest in staying up to date with tech and business news as well as a firm understanding of the startup ecosystem.
• Good level of business acumen and commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with banking innovation trends.
