Job Responsibilities: Leading the fire prevention team and managing staff, workloads and priorities Responsible for the systems used to identify and record properties requiring fire hazard reduction works; together with associated notice production to property owners and appropriate record keeping systems Facilitate the Municipal Fire Management Planning Sub Committee (MFMPC). Represent council on the BSW Regional Strategic Fire Sub Committee. Review processes and update of the Municipal Fire Management Plan to ensure the document caters for the needs of a changing community. Facilitate the identification of Wildfire Management Overlays/Bushfire Prone Areas (WMO/BPA) for incorporation into the planning scheme and linking with Council’s Building/Planning Department. Assess and issue permits to burn and ensure that permit holders meet their obligations with permit conditions Job Requirements: Extensive experience in a Fire Prevention role or relevant compliance role (including knowledge of the Acts and Regulations relevant to this position). Undertaken relevant courses suitable for a Municipal Fire Prevention Officer. Experience in emergency management and its application to community safety and community resilience would be highly regarded. Strong leadership skills, proven ability to foster teamwork and supervise a specialised team. Strong knowledge of CFA & FRV legislation and the demonstrated capacity to read, understand and interpret council’s local law and other legislation.
