The position will be based in either Council's Rushforth Road Works Depot in South Grafton or Council’s Maclean office but this may change should business need identity other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in future. As Floodplain Coordinator you will be required to develop, implement and review floodplain risk management plans; ensure effective and efficient delivery of Council’s floodplain capital, renewal, maintenance and natural resource management programs using both day labour and contractors and provide leadership of the 6 person floodplain team. Job Responsibilities: Coordinate development, implementation and review of Floodplain Risk Management Plans following the process outlined in the NSW Floodplain Development Manual (Data Collection, Flood Study, Floodplain Risk Management Study, Floodplain Risk Management Plan, Plan Implementation). Coordinate and manage Council’s Natural Resource Management floodplain activities and floodplain infrastructure management program, including development of operation, maintenance, renewal and capital works program within available budget with appropriate consideration of risk management. Liaise, advise and negotiate with other Council sections, Government agencies and members of the public to ensure the successful completion of scheduled capital, renewal, maintenance and Natural Resource Management programs. Coordinate floodplain grant applications. Ensure a consistent level of service, behaviours and work practices are delivered in all areas. Lead and motivate staff and foster a culture of continuous improvement through identifying and implementing service improvements. Undertake stormwater and drainage investigations, including modelling, assessment and catchment analysis.
