Job Description:

The Councils Business and Information Technology Department is looking for a Network/Application Administrator who will provide assistance and network support to ensure the effective operation, uninterrupted system availability, appropriate security and optimal system operation of the Council’s IT environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring effective operation and availability of councils VoIP application and associated infrastructure;
  • Ensuring Councils SQL database infrastructure ensuring databases are secure, regularly maintained and backups are completed successfully;
  • Providing support to the Senior Network Administrator and to contribute to the effective operation and cohesive integration between network, desktop and communications infrastructure;
  • Providing technical advice, support and assistance to all departments; and
  • Completing software installations, upgrades and technical problem resolution while working closely with application owners and software vendors

Job Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an Information Technology/Computer Science field or extensive experience working within a related field;
  • Significant knowledge of information security on Windows and Firewalls and the mechanism for configuring systems in line with policies;
  • Demonstrated ability to install, configure and support Microsoft server products on VMWare;
  • Demonstrated ability to install, configure and support corporate applications such as HR and Finance systems;
  • Experience in developing and maintaining technical system documentation and network diagrams;
  • Demonstrated ability to install, configure and support Microsoft Azure and Office 365;
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to identify, define and resolve technical and operational problems;
  • A passion for continuously driving innovative improvements, in a fast-changing and busy operating environment;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, a customer centric mindset and the ability to build trusting relationships within a team environment and across the business; and
  • Project management skills in planning, leading and implementing projects
