Job Description:

The Business Lead is responsible for leading and managing all administrative functions for City Design and providing strategic design support to the Director City Design and Program Manager City Design . The position is responsible for business and strategic planning, operation and coordination across the Branch including leading the contribution and attendance to all corporate responsibilities. The role manages and coordinates functions including financial support of the Branch, corporate reporting, business systems and continuous improvement. It also works across the organisation on corporate initiatives and objectives and on projects within the Branch. The position also serves as a people leader to the Business Support team in City Design.

Job Requirements:

• High level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey and effectively impart project information and negotiate and influence outcomes
• Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate a team ensuring high level performance and taking decisive corrective action when necessary
• Ability to work within a high pressure environment and effectively managing multiple priorities within a complex environment.
• Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence
• Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders with a broad range of expectations and client needs which are often of a competing nature

Qualification & Experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in architecture or landscape architecture at Masters level or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, managing and delivery of business planning, reporting and operational activities within budget and in a complex business environment
• Experience in operational management and measurement techniques, including benchmarking, process improvement, continuous improvement and risk management
