Job Description:

we are seeking someone who understands how sporting clubs and associations function and the necessities for effective governance. This will be paired with an ability to engage effectively with committees across all sporting codes.
This role is part-funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries ‘Every Club Program’ and sits within the Healthy Communities Team, working alongside areas such as youth development and community wellbeing.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with government, service organisations, State/National Sporting Associations, community groups, recreational clubs and associations to plan, coordinate and deliver priority programs and initiatives;
  • Drive club and community development initiatives that support improved governance, connection and sustainability;
  • Participate in networking and professional development opportunities for club development professionals;
  • Provide learning and development opportunities to the community sport and recreational club workforce;
  • Research opportunities such as resources or funding and engage with community sport and recreational clubs to effectively  connect them with those opportunities;
  • Meet and where possible, exceed the performance measures identified in the Every Club ‘Key Results Schedule’;
  • Annual review of the health and needs of sport and recreational clubs;

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of how amateur sporting clubs, not for profits or incorporated associations are governed for effective operations;
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolution;
  • Strong team player with proven ability to work autonomously with initiative, and capacity to be innovative in solving problems and making decisions;
  • High level of computer literacy and administration skills including the ability to undertake research and prepare reports;
  • Current Working with Children Check

Qualification & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in the effective implementation of sustainable community programs, events and place making initiatives;
  • Demonstrated experience in effective community consultation and engagement with stakeholders;
  • Preferred previous experience in the research, community consultation and drafting of strategic documents; and
