Job Description:

As the Technical Services Engineer / Senior Technical Services Engineer you will be providing high quality technical advice to a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders regarding environmental (acid sulfate soils, acoustics, air quality and waterway management), hydraulic and traffic engineering, transport planning and stormwater (quality) matters.

Job Responsibilities:

• Create meaningful engagement with industry to develop a technical position in relation to engineering assessment that reflects contemporary practice.
• Liaise with applicants’ experts to ensure the provision of accurate technical advice that achieves the best development outcomes for Council.
• Provide impartial and technically accurate advice in a politically sensitive environment.
• Produce quality technical written advice in memoranda, delegate reports and email communication for residential, commercial and industrial applications.
• Explain complex technical information to a diverse group of stakeholders, and advocate for the outcome which achieves best practice and a positive development outcome.
• Negotiate with stakeholders to achieve the most effective development outcome for Council in relation to engineering approvals
• Apply technical expertise in a minimum of two of the following areas (including individual areas under environmental engineering): hydraulic engineering, traffic engineering and transport planning, stormwater (quality) engineering or environmental engineering (acid sulfate soils, acoustics, air quality and waterway management), to manage their impact on the planning scheme.
• Provide accurate technical information and quality decisions as part of assessment of an engineering application.
• Identify and resolve issues in the provision of specialist engineering technical services to ensure quality and consistency.
• Apply critical analysis and problem solving skills to reconcile competing technical requirements and deliver solutions.
