Job Requirements:

  • Supervising employees and contractors, and conducting practical staff training.
  • Contract management.
  • Delivering quality customer service.
  • Two to three years in a Parks Maintenance environment.
  • Highly developed ability to read and interpret maps and plans.
  • Financial management skills for job expenditure control.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of Parks and Gardens maintenance and construction techniques, methods, and quality control procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience of beach dune stabilisation and restoration including installation and repairs to reserve fencing.
  • Knowledge and experience of the safe operation and user maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Good knowledge of Council Safety Policy requirements and of safe working practices in a
  • general park environment

Qualification & Experience:

  • Working knowledge and experience of materials and equipment estimating, budgetary preparation and control, costing and administration.
  • Basic knowledge and experience of Human Resource Management issues
  • Knowledge and experience in the installation and maintenance of commercial reticulation systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in the installation and maintenance of playground equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience of arboricultural techniques and requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of turf maintenance practices
  • Possession of, or progress towards a Diploma in Horticulture or similar.
  • Current certification in Advanced Traffic Management.
  • Current unrestricted ‘C’ class national driver’s licence.
  • Possession of, or progress towards, a Local Government Supervisor’s Certificate (desirable)
