Job Description:
We are in the market for an experienced, full-time and tertiary qualified Senior Community Development Officer (Reconciliation). You will work as part of a passionate team of people in Community Capacity Building, focusing your skills on achieving outcomes for Reconciliation for the community by building and facilitating engagement and inclusion of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities in alignment with the CoM’s current Reconciliation Action Plan.
You will be instrumental in leading the delivery of those initiatives and projects that work towards achieving goals outlined in the Reconciliation Action Plan. Our ideal candidate will identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (or can demonstrate significant and substantial work in similar roles working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait communities) and possess the ability to build effective working relationships, facilitate positive community engagement, display excellent advocacy skills and a strong understanding of the needs of the local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities. You must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
Job Requirements:
- Highly developed negotiation, advocacy and liaison skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Highly developed research and report writing skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Demonstrated highly developed verbal and written communication skills with a wide range of stakeholder and audiences.
- Demonstrated experience with a range of evaluation methodologies
Qualification & Experience:
- Possession of a tertiary qualification within Community Development or related discipline
- Hold a current unrestricted “C-A” (Automatic) or “C-B” (Manual) class national driver’s licence.
- National Police Clearance dated (less than 3 months
- A minimum of three years’ previous experience in a related role
- Experience in coordinating Reconciliation Action Plans (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex internal and external group dynamics with positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and understanding the implementation of diverse and inclusive practises, principles, policy and cultural competency.
- Experience and knowledge with relevant policy frameworks
