Job Description:
The City of Melbourne Sleep and Settling Program is an extension of the Universal Maternal Child Health Service (UMCH) providing early parenting, and sleep and settling support to families with infants and children. The Sleep and settling program focuses on providing increased supports to families through regular group education and presentations, along with flexible and targeted one on one in home parenting support for sleep and settling. The Service is intended to engage and empower families, using a strength based multi-disciplinary approach
In line with the Victorian Government funding this position will develop strategic referral pathways with services such as Maternal and Child Health, Family Services, Early Childhood Education and Care and Community services to ensure that families receive services appropriate to their needs.
You will be someone who displays empathy, tolerance and understanding with participants in difficult situations. You will be a confident and clear communicator, communicating respectively and effectively with families using language that they understand.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and experience in the early childhood and family support service systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework including the Practice Principles and Learning Outcomes and the needs of diverse communities and disadvantaged families.
- Demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service, seeking to understand and meet needs utilising a strength basked approach and by using the Best Interests Framework to guide practice.
- Valid working with Children Check, Police Check and current Victorian Driver’s License.
Qualification & Experience:
- Proven experience in contributing to a team effectively by adding value to team activities and encouraging a supportive team environment
- Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Teaching or Special Education with relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience and skills to facilitate groups and engage disadvantaged families and support their
