Monash City Council Jobs – Qualified Gardener

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced team player to join our Horticultural Services Department as part of the Parks and Gardens team. As a Qualified Gardener, you will be responsible for the upkeep of the council’s gardens and other horticultural assets within the municipality.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain a range of gardens using sound horticultural skills
• Operation and minor maintenance of horticultural plant and equipment
• Small planting and landscape designs
• Work cooperatively with team members, stakeholders and contractors
• Ensure fulfilment of organisational obligations under the OHS Act and relevant Council policies and procedures

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Certificate III in Horticulture (Gardens) or other horticultural field
• Experienced in garden maintenance and grass cutting plant and equipment
• Plant/weed identification skills
• A thirst for horticultural knowledge and desire to improve species diversity in gardens
• Commitment to occupational health and safety and quality control processes
• Farm Chemical User Course – with ACUP preferable
• Current manual Victorian drivers licence
