Job Description:

The Environmental Test Engineering and Integration Branch at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is currently seeking a highly skilled candidate to serve as an Aerospace Engineer. This position involves conducting thermal-vacuum tests on spacecraft, instruments, and flight hardware to simulate the environment of space.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work areas may include space simulation testing, high vacuum techniques, cryogenic systems, solar simulation systems, particulate and molecular contamination control, automated data and industrial control systems, and advanced instrumentation.
  • Prepares and implements test procedures and directs the efforts of a team to ensure safe and successful testing of space flight hardware.
  • Reviews project test plans to define test approach, instrumentation needs, and test fixture requirements in the area of thermal-vacuum testing.
  • Identifies needs for new or unique thermal-vacuum test equipment and participates in the design, analysis, test, evaluation, manufacturing, and delivery of related hardware and equipment.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary flight project teams in the development of lengthy test campaigns including the development of schedules, budgets, and logistical support.
  • Identifies needs for modification or upgrade of facility infrastructure and systems to meet long-term test objectives, expand testing capabilities and ensure maintainability.

Qualification & Experience:

  • You must have successfully completed a bachelor’s or graduate degree with a major in either a) engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs or b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Computer Science*, or other field of physical science.
