Job Description: The role of the physiotherapy assistant on the NUH Rehabilitation Unit is to assist patients with a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease with their rehabilitation programmes, both as individuals and/or in a group setting. You will work under the guidance and supervision of the physiotherapists on NUH Rehabilitation Unit, and be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team. Job Responsibilities: Demonstrate effective communication skills to be able to safely and clearly instruct, motivate and persuade patients, with kindness and empathy, understanding and overcoming any barriers to communication. Understand the needs of people of all ages with Parkinson's Disease, their challenges of living with a long-term condition, and appreciate the demands on their carers. Responsible for carrying out prescribed treatments; assisting the physiotherapist on Home Visits; preparing patients for treatment; preparing equipment for patient use; have a good knowledge of how to move and handle patients safely. Maintain own competence to practice through CPD activities, and participate in the Trust’s appraisal scheme. Working as part of the Multidisciplinary Team, uphold the values and behaviours of the Trust, complete documentation in line with local policy, perform administrative, housekeeping and stock taking duties, Strive to ensure that patients always receive a high standard of care. Job Requirements: GCSE (A-C) or equivalent in English and Mathematics Demonstrate ability to learn new skills NVQ level 2 / 3 in care related subject Previous experience as a Physiotherapy or Health / Rehab Care Assistant. Evidence of learning Can demonstrate knowledge of the role of physiotherapist Experience of dealing effectively with the public.
